Pinterest can only take you so far. For an inside track to the year’s coolest nursery design trends, we turned to Project Nursery’s Melisa Fluhr and Pam Ginocchio, who always know what’s hot, and how to get the look.

Colorful taxidermy. Faux taxidermy has been circulating in the nursery world for a while, but this year it gets a bold makeover—as in gold glitter or hot pink antlers.

Statement lighting. A knock-your-socks-off chandelier like the Sputnik adds just the right touch of mid-century mod influence.

Fruits and veggies. Garden bounty is at the forefront of baby-friendly prints and patterns this year. Bet you never thought you’d be eyeing radish wallpaper (but man, is it cute).

Wood accents. Rustic pallet walls kicked off this trend earlier in the year; the look has evolved with metallic finishes and rich stains.

Eclectic rugs. Old World and Aztec-style floor coverings are making their way into the nursery as a true focal point.

Geographical themes. Use a meaningful locale as your inspiration. Check out these rooms that take their cues from Palm Beach and Nantucket, and you’ll get the idea.
