While much of the country is still slogging through the toughest winter we can remember, our favorite baby stores have (happily) skipped ahead to spring clothing. To make sure we’re on trend whenever the warm weather finally arrives, we’ve asked Emily Hornstein-Quagliani, owner of Lil’Swanky, what we’ll see on stylish little ones in the coming months.
“Mixed-up prints in classic and comfortable cuts,” answers Hornstein-Quagliani. She likes Anthem of the Ants’ striped and floral Scavenger Hunt dress ($60, pictured center). (We think Catamini’s Puff Dress with Stripes and Spots ($96) hits the mark, too.) She also says vintage-inspired tees are still going strong. “Worn with jeans and Converse, or dressed up with skirts and boots, they are as versatile as they are cool.” Rowdy Sprout’s Grateful Dead and The Who tees ($40) fit the bill, as does Junk Food’s Vintage Mickey Mouse tee ($32). Graphic prints of yummy treats aren’t going anywhere, either. They’re ubiquitous this spring—and they look great paired with jewel tones. Hornstein-Quaglani cites Europann’s Soda Cans Swim Trunks ($80) and Ouch!’s Candy Menu Top ($44) as favorites. (We’re digging 3 Pommes’ ice cream-themed tee, too; $21.) Also big this year are stars and stripes. “This trend translates the American flag into something very wearable,” Hornstein-Quagliani explains. She loves Mini Shatsu’s Stars & Stripes shorts ($40, pictured left) and dress ($38). (Ikks’ striped and navy blue star-printed dress ($70) has all the right Patriotic elements as well.)
And for truly fresh trends, our friends at Melijoe say spring 2014 is all about short-sleeved sweatshirts (like this sequined Chloe number, $100) and photo graphics—check Levis tees ($30, pictured right) to get the drift.
