Seems like “sprinkles” (mini showers for a second- or third-time mom)  are here to stay. So we asked Sweets Stylist and event-planning pro Amy Atlas to give us the lowdown on the trend—and ideas for pulling it together. “Many women want to celebrate the birth of baby #2 or #3 but don’t feel comfortable with something as grand as they had the first time around,” Atlas says. “Instead of showering the mom-to-be with gifts, you sprinkle her with a few things she’ll need,” she explains. “Keep it laid-back, keep the guest list small, and try one of these four fun themes.”
Throw the mom-to-be a “sundae” brunch sprinkle. The menu can include items like pancakes, waffles, and mimosas. End the party with a make-your-own sundae bar (pictured) and be sure to have lots of sprinkles on hand.

Instead of the usual Pampers cake, make the sprinkle all about pampering mom with a spa-themed gathering—or a day at the spa.
Host an intimate tea party and serve finger sandwiches, scones, crumpets with fresh jam, and pots of tea with all the fixings.
Organize a Little Pea Party to celebrate the new little one joining the family. Use a fresh shade of green (which happens to be Pantone’s Color of the Year, and gender-neutral) for decorations; incorporate peas into the menu (fresh sugar snap peas with dip, pea puree on crostini, peas in a salad). Cupcakes with bright green polka dot decorations or little bowls of green candies add a sweet touch, and you can give the book Little Pea as a party favor or gift.
