Any mother who’s just welcomed her second (or third, or—good luck to her—fourth) boy probably has plenty of blue clothes and fire trucks. And the friend who just had another girl is likely well-stocked with pink accessories and Madeline books. So we asked our trusted StrollerTraffic Scouts to dish out some gift ideas that second-time parents of same-sex siblings might actually need—or at least appreciate.
Since the new baby will be getting a lot of hand-me-downs, anything with his or her name or initials is a safe bet. We love a monogrammed polo or polo dress from Ralph Lauren, a name puzzle stool, a luxe monogrammed blanket, or an initial pillow.

On the other hand, no one’s giving a baby a used lovie. Miyim has cuddly (and certified organic) ones in pink or blue. Ditto for teething toys. If the first sibling’s Sophie was chewed to a pulp, a new one will be appreciated. A fresh set of stain-free bibs and burp cloths (we’re loving DwellStudio’s new galaxy and meadow designs) is nice, too. Shoes are another baby staple that rarely see more than one season. We like the idea of giving pink Ugg booties to the baby, and a matching toddler pair for big sis. For a feel-good gift that definitely won’t be a redundancy, consider making a donation in the baby’s name to a cause the whole family cares about.
