There are two kinds of bibs: the adorable (often personalized) ones you get at the baby shower, and the ones that actually work. With the latter in mind, here are our favorites . . .

. . . for spitter-uppers: Aden + Anais’s muslin burpy bibs ($22 for two) can double as burp cloths. But what we really dig is the way they wrap around a baby’s shoulders like a cape—because lord knows spit-up rarely lands smack in front.

. . . for teethers:
Green Sprouts makes absorbent terry bibs ($10.99 for a 5-pack) with a waterproof inner layer, so clothes don’t get sopped with drool.

. . . for the spoon-fed set: Both Bumkins’ SuperBibs ($7.95) and Skip Hop’s Zoo Bibs ($8) are waterproof, and have a catcher for dropped food. They’re super easy to rinse and reuse, and free of BPA, phthalates, and PVC.

. . . for on-the-go: Pampers’ disposable Pocket Bibsters are $7.79 for a pack of 32; DwellStudio also makes a cool tear-off pad of 20 disposable bibs called BIBS to go ($12.99).  Or, get a set of Kippiis Clips ($12.80) so you can convert whatever’s lying around—a burp cloth, napkin, towel—into a quasi bib.
