Your Crib's Afterlife

AptDeco sells used nursery furnishings

Ridding your apartment of outgrown baby furniture can be a hassle. Or not. AptDeco, an online hub for gently used furniture, just added a kids' category. To unload a crib, rocker, or changing table (no mattresses or electronics, please), just create a listing under the "sell my stuff" tab, upload pictures, and draft a description (mentioning any damage).

The site helps with pricing recommendations, snazzing up your listing, and promoting your offering to potential buyers. Once the item is sold, select a pick-up date and AptDeco will arrange for a professional moving company to take it off your hands. If the buyer has an issue with the merch, AptDeco mediates.

It's free to list; AptDeco grabs 14 percent to 19 percent of your earnings. Payments are processed at pick-up and direct-deposited into your bank account. Buyers pay the delivery fees ($65 for large items and $20 for small, with an extra charge for walk-ups with more than three flights). In the event of a return, AptDeco will either return the item to you for a $65 delivery fee or set up a donation to a local non-profit like the Salvation Army or Housing Works. All you have to do is figure out what to do with all that new space.
