The more digitized our lives become, the more charming we find the legendary Strand Book Store. That's why our ears perked up when we heard about the Strand's new summer art series for tots.
 
The Strand has teamed up with Private Picassos to co-host 45-minute art classes where kids ages 2-8 explore the greats like Picasso (July 9th), Alexander Calder (July 16th), Jackson Pollock (July 23rd), Frida Kahlo (July 30th), Mondrian (August 6th), and Roxy Paine (August 13th). Dress your kids in play clothes because they'll get messy creating self-portraits, string art, or tape collages before winding down with apropos storybooks like When Pigasso Met Mootsie, Frida and Me, Fancy Nancy Aspiring Artist, and Calder’s Circus.

Classes are held on Saturday mornings at 10:30 am; $30 for walk-ins, $25 with pre-registration—or register for the entire 6-week session and get 20 percent off.
