The Kindred Spirit

A cool finale for your favorite clothes

Handmade baby clothes are special in their own right. But newcomer Kindred adds a clever new twist: they repurpose your favorite wardrobe pieces into chic, European-styled baby clothes. Founded by two NYC moms—former Narciso Rodriguez and Theory designer, Simone Leonhardt, and environmental protection advocate, Heike Jaroschowitz, Kindred offers 20 darling silhouettes, including a balloon romper, Kimono top, and flapper dress. Simply mail them a meaningful item from your closet (your husband’s favorite oxford, the dress you wore when he proposed), and they’ll transform it into a new outfit for your baby (starting at $175). If you dig the Kindred look but don’t want to part with your stuff, they also have readymade one-of-a-kind pieces ($60-$225) fashioned from vintage and eco-friendly European textiles.
