Ladurée opens in NYC
New Yorkers tend to love the French or hate the French. But one thing on which most of us can agree: macarons are yummy. Like really yummy. So we’re psyched about the UES opening of Ladurée, the touristy-but-delightful Paris sweets shop that reportedly invented the macaron “sandwich” (two macarons united by a layer of ganache). The new Madison Avenue outpost has 15 flavors (lemon, pistachio, carmel), as well as tartes, millefeuilles, chocolats, éclairs, teas and other pâtisserie goodies—plus a divine candle collection and a signature baby bib that’s rumored to be arriving in store any day. As of now, there is no salon for tea time, baby showers or birthday parties, but they can create custom party favors and fare upon request.
