Three new pros hit the NYC birthday scene

Considering the never-ending quest for original birthday ideas in this town, we’re delighted to spill the beans about three newish vendors serving the pint-size party scene.
In lieu of the usual poodles and flowers, Brooklyn Balloon Company founder Robert Moy twists up “rideable” Lightening McQueen Cars, cross bows that actually shoot, and wearable butterfly wings—all out of natural, biodegradable latex rubber. This guy is seriously talented, folks. For over-the-top decorations, check out his new custom helium balloon offerings, too. Prices start at $275 an hour, for 10 kids.
The latest player on the character cakes scene is KreatedByK, whose confections almost—almost—look to good to eat. Owner Kristan Watson can whip up one impressive looking Elmo cake, not to mention fabulous cupcakes, cookies, and cake pops as well. Custom character cake prices vary, but standard cakes with inscriptions, polka dots, and simple flowers range from $30 to $80. Nut-free baked goods are available upon request, though the kitchen is not nut-free.
And for those who tend to go over-the-top, Keren Precel Events is all about presentation. With a focus on table displays, the veteran graphic designer conceptualizes gorgeous themes like magical forest or vintage transportation. She’ll translate your theme into a sweets table, or orchestrate the whole shebang, from invitations to menus, ambiance, and favors.
