Next up in kids’ theater
Nothing blows a tot’s mind like seeing his favorite character “live,” in jumbo size, on stage. All the biggies—Elmo, Thomas, the Disney Princesses—are on their way to the City. Better book fast; we hear all the shows are expected to sell out.
The whole princess crew—Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Mulan—will be strutting their sparkly selves on skates during Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes, performed at Madison Square Garden January 21-23. Come dressed as a princess (naturally). Tickets from $32 to $125.
Tip: One hour before each performance, kids can see the Princesses’ gowns and treasures, and will get to meet a live Disney princess. (Swoon.) Free with show ticket.
Sesame Street Live! Elmo’s Green Thumb (February 17-21, at MSG) is a somewhat interactive performance featuring an easy-to-follow story and sing-along songs with the whole Sesame Street Gang. Tickets: $15, $25, $40 and $60.
Tip: The Sunny Seat package ($125) includes premium seats, and a special “meet and greet” with two Sesame Street friends before the show.
On March 5 and 6, Thomas and his engine friends will be at MSG for six performances of Thomas & Friends Live! Tickets are $25 to $79.
Tip: The Thomas conductor cap for kids will be available for $20 at the theater.
Madagascar Live! is DreamWorks Theatrical’s first-ever live family touring show—coming to Radio City Music Hall April 15-24. The cast will include characters from the Madagascar movie: Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and some crafty penguins. Tickets are $29 to $145, at radiocity.com.
Tip: Kids get a pair of “Lemur” glasses so they can “Move It, Move it!” with King Julien during the show.
