Curated Care, founded by Manhattan moms Marlene Veloso and Erin McConaghy, aims to take “sitting” out of the babysitting equation. The service connects you with in-home childcare enriched with activities or lessons like music, language, cooking, science, dance, and arts and crafts, led by “Kid Experts” (a.k.a. teachers, artists, dancers, and other professionals). Supplies are included; sometimes families supplement. The Kid Experts all have an early education degree, special certification, or professional experience working with children, and there’s a thorough vetting process that includes background checks and training by Curated Care. Picking kids up from school, snack and food prep, naptime routines, and shuttling to and from any other activities are also part of the duties. There are also options for playgroups, lessons, and parties. There’s a one-time $35 membership fee and Kid Experts run from $20 to $25 per hour, with a 2-hour minimum. You can book by schedule or activity. Any price adjustments for additional children are hashed out through the message center prior to booking. Kid Experts also set their own party fees, which typically start at $50 per hour. Payment happens directly through the site.
