Killing Time Before Fall Classes Start
Commitment-free, end-of-summer activities for tots
It’s remarkable how, um, long the weeks between camp and fall sessions can seem. To help fill the void, we’ve rounded up a few places that are currently letting kids drop in on a whim.
From August 16-25, little posers can join any weekday Yogi Beans class—just check the summer schedule for age-appropriate time slots ($35 per class). Tots with a caregiver can crash Taste Buds Kitchen’s Mommy & Me class (Wednesdays at 4:30pm) with just one hour’s notice, to whip up easy fare like lasagna cupcakes or fresh-baked cookies (ages 2-5, $50 per class). Little Maestros also welcomes un-enrolled babies and toddlers; just call the morning-of to check for availability (212-396-3977; $40 per class). For $110, you can get a 3-pack of passes to Super Soccer Stars’ outdoor flexible drop-in program (10- and 20-packs are also available). And although Make Meaning doesn’t offer specific classes for kids under 3, walk-in toddlers can make soap or bead necklaces for half-price on Mondays–Thursdays, before 1pm.
