Fall theater for kids
The fall theater season is a about to kick off, and while the grownups in this town will be clamoring for tickets to Spiderman, we’ve got the top picks for the wee set—including some that, thankfully, invite toddlers to jump up and dance.
Freckleface Strawberry The Musical
The fun book by actress and mom Julianne Moore is now a family musical, at New World Stages theater. Runs September 9 to January 2; all ages. Tickets from $39.
New Victory Theater
The New Victory Theater fall season starts October 2 with Puss in Boots, featuring London-based puppet company, Blind Summit Theatre. Runs October 2 to 10; ages 3 and up. Tickets from $20. Egg and Spoon is a nature-themed show introducing the seasons with falling leaves, snowflakes, cherry blossoms and baby birds. Runs November 2 to 21; ages 2 to 5. Tickets are $20.
Radio City Music Hall
DJ Lance Rock and the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba! will have kids chanting to retro-style and beat-driven music during Yo Gabba Gabba! Live!: There’s A Party in My City! Special Guests are likely to join on stage; in the past they’ve included Jack Black and Elijah Wood. Runs October 2 and 3; ages 3 and up. Tickets are $40 -$75. Also, tickets are already on sale for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, featuring, of course, the Rockettes. The first show is Friday, November 5; all ages. From $45 a ticket.
Angelina Ballerina The Musical
The Vital Theatre Company welcomes Angelina Balerina The Musical, based on the book by Susan DiLallo. Tots are welcome to get up and dance. Runs October 2 to January 2; all ages. Tickets from $29.50.
