Good News For Breastfeeding Moms

Yummy Mummy is now accepting medical insurance

Let’s give it up for the Affordable Care Act, which passed in August and allows families to pay for pricy breast pumps, breastfeeding supplies, and lactation support through medical insurance. The catch? In order to qualify, the supplies must be sourced from a nationally accredited Durable Medical Equipment provider. Well, as of last week, the UES’s Yummy Mummy store is just that. Effective immediately, moms covered by Aetna (and soon other leading carriers) can get a breast pump and supplies from Yummy Mummy with no out-of-pocket costs—as in no co-pay, coinsurance, or deductible. Specifically, nursing mothers are entitled to a double electric breast pump within 60 days of baby’s birth date, or a manual breast pump within 12 months of baby’s birth.

Spending the freed-up cash is your call, but for what it’s worth, Yummy Mummy founder Amanda Cole says her favorite new products for breastfeeding moms include the Mimijumi Not So Hungry Bottle ($23), Nom’s Surplice Tee ($74); Mama Mio’s Stretch Mark Butter ($36), and Elle Macpherson’s Momamia Bra ($58) and Bikini ($28).
