Give It Up For Local Talent
Brooklyn Makers sells locally made stuff for kids
Last spring, blogger Teresa Lagerman launched Brooklyn Makers as an ode to the many Brooklynite artisans and designers crafting super-stylish and sustainably-made goods for kids and families. And now she’s added a webshop, selling those same wares. You’ll find a diverse selection of design-driven, high-quality items like wooden fair-trade toys from Goose Grease, eco-cool cotton tees from Brooklyn Junior ($26), hair accessories by Brooklyn Owl ($15), up-cycled cashmere dollies from Sunggly Ugly ($55), and reclaimed shirting dresses by Kallio ($72). And since there seems to be no shortage of neighborhood talent, the site will be frequently updated; she’s planning to add up-and-comer labels Lady Handmade and Odette Williams any day. Keep an eye out, too, for stationery and greeting cards from Brooklyn design studio, Pepper Press.
