A new kind of summer treat 

Fruizo is the new FroYo. Well, not yet—but we’re calling it now. A new store called Peeled is slated to open on the Upper East Side mid-August, introducing a new kind of frozen treat: soft-serve fruit. Co-founder Chloe Epstein says Fruizo, which is made from real fruit and has the consistency of soft-serve ice cream, is free of fat, sodium, cholesterol, soy, gluten, wheat and nuts. “My kids are completely fooled,” jokes Epstein. “They think it’s ice cream. But it has no coloring, no nuts, no high fructose corn syrup. It’s just fruit and filtered water that’s naturally sweetened with organic cane sugar.” There are less than 100 calories in a four-ounce serving.
Peeled will open with seasonal varieties including mango, banana and strawberry, plus 24 natural toppings ranging from granola and carob chips to wasabi peas and pretzels—all dished out in a cool little space with, get this, scratch n’ sniff wallpaper.
