The new kids’ boutique at Bergdorf Goodman
Peter Pan collar-loving moms gasped collectively last summer when classic children’s wear label Best & Co. shuttered. But it didn’t take long for Bergdorf Goodman to fill the gaping hole left on the seventh floor when the beloved retailer pulled out: Little BG opened in February, with designer clothes and accessories in sizes newborn through six. The new boutique has it own floor-to-ceiling tree house, plus tempting handmade toys and gifts, from plush Steiff animals to rocking horses and traditional pedal-push race cars and airplanes.
As for the duds, the boutique stocks the in-house BG collection as well as Tartine et Chocolat, Little Marc Jacobs and Junior Gaultier, plus Bonpoint, Antik Batik and Papo d’Anjo. Special occasion dressing is off-the-rack, or made-to-order, with dresses from Isabel Garreton and Joan Calabrese, boys’ suits from Hickey Freeman, dress shirts, ties, and bow ties from Charvet, and christening gowns designed by Baby Dior. For the littlest ones, there are hand-embroidered playsuits and Italian-made cashmere booties and blankets.
Next up? The boutique’s swim collection arrives next week, featuring Papo d’Anjo and Florence Eiseman for boys and girls. It will also stock Lily Pulitzer, Carolina Zapf and Submarine suits for girls, and Vilbrequin trunks for boys.
