Celebrity Mom Q&A: Cindy Barshop

Newest RHONY on the block, Completely Bare CEO, and mom of twins

Q. We’ve had fun watching you on RHONY—the most level-headed one of the bunch, as far as we’re concerned. But how on Earth did you make time for filming with toddler twins and your laser business, Completely Bare?
A: It was definitely a struggle, but I know my priorities and everything is about scheduling. I would wake up extra early to see my trainer so that I could get home by the time the babies woke up. Then I’d play with them until they had their first nap. Then I went to work.

Q. Tell us a little about your daughters. They’re 18 months old now. Are they enrolled in any classes?
A: They take classes at both Baby Moves and Gymboree; they absolutely love it.

Q. Where do you like to shop for them in the City?
A. I shop for them the same way I shop for myself: I like to mix high and low. I will go to Z’Baby and get them cute converse sneakers and then get a onesie from Century 21 or Gap.

Q. And what about their first birthday—what was the best part?
A. The cake was incredible. It was from purple elephant cake http://purpleelephantcake.com/ and it was a big rubber ducky, to match the theme of the party.  It was so nice, I almost didn’t want to eat it . . . almost.

Q. As a single, working mom of twins you must have some incredible organizational tips. How do you manage?
A. I think keeping an organized calendar is key. And really, I have no choice. I just do as much as I can and try not to feel guilty. Every day I try to leave the office at 3pm, and I dedicate from 3 to 7:30 to playing with them, feeding, bathing them and putting them to bed.  Everyone knows that this time is my family time and everything else can wait until 7:30.  If it were up to me, I would go back to work from 7:30 to 10 and trust me, a  lot of the time I do.

Q. What about mom-friends? Clearly those RHONY chicks aren’t the ideal play date crowd. Have you found it easy or difficult to find moms in Manhattan who are on the same page as you?
A. Two of my best friends also have babies, so most of my play dates are with them.  Thank God, because I don’t have time to look for moms in Manhattan.

Q. We hear you. What are some of your most trusted parenting resources? Where do you turn for advice?
A. My mom is great. It’s amazing how she can answer almost anything. Also, Google is my best friend. I love to read about what to do and when, what is normal, etcetera.

Q. Okay, now tell us a little more about Completely Bare. What’s the best laser treatment for a new mom? Any miracle zaps that can obliterate the exhaustion from our pallid complexions?
A. Completely Bare is a results-oriented spa, and the number one source for hair removal.  In terms of postpartum treatments, though, VelaShape is cellulite reduction that’s great for new moms—it tightens and smoothes out anywhere from your tummy to your thighs. I’d also recommend the BBL, which is an intense pulsed light treatment that works to treat broken capillaries and firm and tighten skin.  After a couple of these treatments, your skin will no longer be pallid. Trust me.

Q. Thanks for the tip. We’ll check it out. Meanwhile, what’s on tap for the rest of the summer?
A. We will be in the Hamptons, so the girls can actually have a backyard.
