Camp For Toddlers

Last-minute openings for wee ones

summercamp

Like everything else in New York, camp experiences start early. While no one's shipping off a toddler on a camp bus, there are some fun summer sessions for the 3-and-under set. And no, it's not too late to register.

There are still a few spaces left at the Dalton School’s A Dalton Summer (June 24-August 2), where the 3’s program includes age-appropriate music, art, science, and water play; special days like “Pajama Day” and “Costume Day;” and guest appearances by Little Maestros, Dribbl Basketball, and other popular kids’ programs. Tuition starts at $3,700 for four half-days. Campers must be potty trained and have formally separated prior to the start of camp. 53-61 E. 91st St., between Park & Madison.

Kidville rounds up campers by age: 18-24 months (with a parent or caregiver), 2 years (separation optional) and 3 years (drop-off). Sports, art, "enrichment play," and live music "jam sessions" are all on the agenda, as are weekly themes like Space Galaxy Adventure, Wild Wild West, and Under the Sea Beach Party. Camp is offered in two-week increments, from May 6th through the week of August 19th. Locations include the UES, UWS, Midtown West, Union Square, Murray Hill, Park Slope, and Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill. Session times and prices vary. Register at kidville.com. Check the website for location addresses.

Though it isn’t officially billed as “camp,” Art Farm In The City’s Gentle Separation Program tees up music, art, story time, and snack for 2-year-olds, who also get to log some time with the animals. A parent or caregiver is required to stay for the first week; drop-off is okay thereafter, toddler permitting. Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 4:30pm; choose one or two days ($425/$850). Register at theartfarms.org. 419 E. 91st St., between York & 1st Ave.

Children need to be 3 to enroll in a camp session at apple seeds, where each day comprises six 30-minute segments that include free play in the playground, snack, art, and a specialty activity like cooking, music, or movement. Camp runs 9:30am–12:30pm; campers can participate two to five days a week. Prices start at $580 ($522 for members) for a two-day program that lasts two weeks. Camp sessions run June 10th–August 30th at the Chelsea location; July 1st–August 30th at the UWS location. No diapers. Register at appleseedsplay.com. 10 W. 25th St. between B'way & 6th Ave.; 200 West End Ave. between 69th & 70th

Kids In Sports' indoor camp (for 2.5 to 3 year olds) runs Monday through Friday, from 9:30am to 12:30pm at Temple Israel on the UES. Expect age-appropriate baseball, soccer, basketball, and other sports. Sign up for any or all of the weeks, which begin on June 3 and run through the week of August 26. $500 per week, a $25 non-refundable processing fee is included. Register at kisnyc.com. 112 E. 75th St., between Lex & Park.
