Where to find decent Father’s Day cards

It shouldn’t be so freaking difficult to a find Father’s Day card that doesn’t feature a beer can, football game, or remote control on the cover—not to mention, “For my Husband” in cheesy, scripty font. Ugh. We scoured the city in search of something a bit more stylish . . . here’s what we found.

An old West Hollywood favorite for all things pretty, Soolip Paperie has a nice selection of letterpress Father’s Day designs, each with a handmade detail—like their signature appliqués ($5-$18.75).

Not far down the road, Jonathan Wright & Company carries a number of clean and modern letterpress designs from companies like Fugu Fugu and Egg Press ($4-$7) as well as vintage-inspired creations from their eponymous line, which is hand-printed onsite ($3-$8.50).

Our personal favorite for ready-to-buy cards is Sugar Paper, where greeting cards run from $3.50 to $6.50 and range from beautiful and poignant, to pop-inspired and fun. Almost all cards are letterpress—designed for their in-house line, Sugar Paper, or at outside paper companies like Hammerpress or Mr. Boddington’s Studio.
