DIY clothes for tots
Show us a toddler wearing a self-styled ensemble, and we’ll show you one happy kid. That’s why we love the idea of Cheryl Fudge, a make-your-own-clothes shop for children that’s just opened a new outpost at Fred Segal. Tots as young as 2 can pick out an item of clothing (or bring in their own), then select from hundreds of patches, trims and embellishments to add their own flair. Once the garment design is finalized, an on-site seamstress sews the item for pick-up two or three days later. Staple items include t-shirts ($18), hoodies ($25) and sweats, but lately there’s been a big fuss over the DIY princess dresses ($44). As a special holiday bonus, Cheryl Fudge is offering 25 percent off for the month of December. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended for large parties. Fees start at $3 per embellishment, plus the cost of each clothing item.
