Mommy & Me Photography

Learn to take better photos of your favorite subject

camera

Have baby, buy fancy camera. That’s the usual order of things. Problem is, there’s more to great photographs than a nice lens. Enter Caroline Tran, a weddings-and-families photographer (and mother of a 2-year-old) who’s hosting her first-ever photography workshops just for moms on May 19th and June 9th. Located at her studio in Pasadena, the half-day sessions will focus on how to shoot manually, find the right lighting, and master basics like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. All cameras are welcome, whether moms are using SLRs or point-and-shoots. Following a two-hour classroom tutorial, students are invited to practice what they’ve learned at the 9-acre park across the street (arrange to have your kid(s) meet you there). Tran will be be on hand, offering real-time pointers. A similar session for dads is in the works for June 23rd. The $350 sessions run from 1:30pm to 5pm; register at carolinetran.net.
