Little Fire Crackers

Where to celebrate the Fourth with wee ones

There’s no shortage of July Fourth events next week—but most of them won’t be much fun with a baby or toddler in tow. The tamest of them all seems to be the Studio City Fireworks Festival, held at the CBS Studios backlot. On Wednesday afternoon, the lot will transform into an outdoor playground with a model airplane show, car show, and magic show with Magic Castle magicians. There will be a bouncy castle and dunk tank, plus mingling pirates who’ll pose for photos, spray-on tattoo artists, and balloon artists fashioning American flags. Live music acts include Tom Petty tribute band, Petty Theft, as well as a hand bell choir and a high school band rhythm section. There will be plenty of kid-friendly food for sale, or you can bring your own grub and picnic anywhere on the grounds. The four-hour event culminates in a 30-minute fireworks display. Sounds like a fun (and totally manageable) way to celebrate.
