LA’s First Kids’ Yoga Studio

Zooga opens in Culver City

Kids’ yoga classes are sprouting up all over town, but we’re especially excited about Zooga, a new studio designed just for wee ones. Opened by former ballerina Antonia King, Zooga (derived from the words zoo and yoga) offers classes for babies, toddlers and tots, who learn how to strike (and hold) yoga poses through storytelling, animal imitations, and age-appropriate games like “freeze yoga.” For new moms, there’s a Happy Babies class (ages 6 weeks to crawlers) that combines playful-but-effective yoga techniques for grownups with baby exercises that help strengthen tiny muscles, aid digestion, and promote better sleep. Each one-hour Zooga class ends with a yoga nap, during which teachers pass around scented eye pillows and lead kids on a mini meditation journey. Their first session, a six-week Summer Series ($120) kicks off July 23; get 10% off if you register before the first day.
