It’s Ornamental

Toddler-friendly tree trimmings

Toddlers are just as likely to drop ornaments as they are to hang them on the tree. We suggest packing away the precious glass balls and swallowable jingle bells and trying these baby-friendly alternatives instead. Cost Plus World Market has the largest variety of non-breakables, including felt critters (an owl is $9.78) and knitted hanging ornaments (a mini Christmas sweater and stocking are $2.99 each). There’s also the valley’s ultimate Christmas wonderland, Aldik Home (7651 Sepulveda Blvd., Van Nuys), where plush animal ornaments start at $8. There’s Pottery Barn, too, where a felt polar bear, penguin and snowman are $7 each. And of course we’re always into the idea of getting the kids involved, which is why we love the DIY ornament kits at Michael’s craft stores—they might not be the most stylish trimmings, but kids love ‘em.
