Zookies launches drop-in art sessions
When Zookies opened last year, we welcomed it as a brick-and-mortar version of Etsy. As it turns out, the Toluca Lake store has a lot more to offer than cute baby gifts. Launching this week, Zookies’ daily Open Art sessions invite tots of all ages to get messy with a parent or caregiver. Each day of the week features a specific medium: there’s sculpting and play dough on Tuesdays, painting on Wednesdays, cutting and collaging on Thursdays, and beading and stamping on Fridays. On Saturdays, families are invited to work together on projects such as family trees and birthday banners. While the Open Art sessions are not led by art instructors, per se, the store does provide all the eco-friendly materials, as well as seasonal crafting ideas such as acorn necklaces and apple bird feeders. Little artists are welcome any time between 11am and 2pm, Tuesday through Saturday—for $5 per session; $10 for weekend family projects.
