Every Move You Make
Three new ways to shed those postpartum pounds
LA moms have a few things going for us when it comes to dropping the baby weight: weather, weather, and weather. Meaning, of course, our exercise options go way beyond the elliptical at the gym. We’ve rounded up three of LA’s best new fitness offerings. Now all you have to do is show up.
Sure, your local yoga studio probably has a parent-and-me offering, but at Yoga Stars (formerly Yogi Beans), babies can either climb your Warrior pose or roam about a sectioned-off play area with a qualified sitter—so you can focus on your Om. Various locations; $240 for 8 classes.
Boot Camp H20
You’ll need childcare for this one, but it just might be worth it. Boot Camp H20 is the aquatic take on the boot camp trend, where moms (and dads) get a full cardio workout that includes underwater drills, weights and dumbbells. Fins and goggles required. No doggy paddlers, please. Various locations; $250 for 8 weekly sessions.
Poolside Pilates at the W Los Angeles
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Kit Rich (who has apparently trained Sting and Trudie) will be teaching a free hour-long Pilates-Yoga-Weights hybrid class every Saturday at 9am, by the pool. (Babysitting can be arranged through the hotel concierge.) If you make it through the Ab Series of Five, you’ll be rewarded with a complimentary mimosa and 20 percent off brunch. A bit counterproductive, but tempting for sure.
