Earth-Loving LA Brands
5 eco-friendly companies started by local parents
In honor of Earth Day this Sunday, we’re tipping our hats to these LA-based baby companies (all started by moms) for making parents’ lives a little better while treading lightly on Mother Earth.
Parents of two, Lisa and Curzon Peier launched Petites Frites to offer stylish and sustainably made staples for babies: bibs, burp cloths, baby blankets and teether blankies. All of their products are made within a five mile radius of Los Angeles, using environmentally-conscious fabric, low-impact, metal-free dyes and recycled packaging.
The Little Seed
Founded by Soleil Moon Frye and Paige Goldberg Tolmach, The Little Seed boutique on Larchmont stocks all things green for babies and tots—including their own line of vibrantly colored, made-in-the-USA organic clothes (onesies, jumpers, dresses, hoodies, burp cloths, swaddle blankets).
Commercial airline pilot (and mom) Christine Barlow invented the 5 Phases hybrid baby bottle, combining the purity of glass with the shatterproof safety of BPA-free plastic. 5 Phases bottles feature removable glass inserts that are housed inside a plastic exterior, meaning baby’s milk is never compromised.
The Honest Company
Haute mama Jessica Alba co-founded The Honest Company with Christopher Gavigan, of Healthy Child Healthy World fame. The wonderful collection of nontoxic essentials (cleaning products, skincare, diapers) is delivered to parents’ homes via a monthly subscription service that you can customize to meet your family’s needs.
Two LA moms started Graze Organic to wage war against disposable snack and sandwich baggies. Their reusable 100 percent organic cotton bags are made locally and feature cheery silkscreened artwork produced with water-based inks.
