The Best Party Balloons In LA

We knew that cakes could be shaped like Lightning McQueen or Hello Kitty, but we had no idea the trend had hit the balloon sphere. So here we are with the latest way to go totally overboard for your kid’s birthday.

Our eyes nearly popped out when we saw the sculptures by Balloon Celebrations: a six-foot tall cupcake ($750), a ten-foot tall dinosaur ($650), and an enormous Hello Kitty dressed to match the birthday girl ($850). All sculptures are completely custom, and can last up to a month if kept indoors. (Outside, not so much.) On a more practical level, they also do stunning bouquets and centerpieces ($45-$95).

We also dig the balloon backdrops and head-table designs from Party Devine ($150-$2,000), whose entryways look more LACMA than baby’s first birthday. The themed settings we’ve seen so far—fairies with a castle, a garden with potted flowers and ladybugs—are really flippin’ cute. Bouquets and centerpieces run $25-$125, depending on size.

With clients like Jada and Will, Any Occasion Balloons is one of the most reliable balloon vendors in town—if not the most creative. Specialities include oversized, confetti-filled latex balloons and three-foot letters ($20 each). Specialty bouquets featuring sports, characters, or basic kiddie themes (bugs, flowers, happy faces) start at $40 for a half-dozen.
