A Safe Place To Ask All Your Questions.
Developmental chats for parents, grandparents, and caregivers
Surely we’re all in need of a little more sanity on the home front. To that end, Kids Therapy Made Simple has introduced a new series of Grown-Up & Me sessions designed for parents, grandparents, and nannies (separately) to discuss the everyday challenges of child-rearing in a compassionate environment—while kids join in guided movement and play. Groups are segmented into four stages: “Getting to Know You” for ages 3-9 months, with focus on attachment, routine-building, sleeping and feeding; “Reaching Out to Explore” for ages 9-18 months, with focus on separation and individuality, crawling, walking and developmentally appropriate toys; “Movers and Shakers” for ages 18-24 months, with focus on temper tantrums and language development; and “Ready for the World” for ages 24-36 months, with focus on preschool, social development, and encouraging your child’s participation in your routine. Groups are led by Dr. Lisa J Lewis, who earned her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California and has a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Each group is capped at eight participants and enrolls children who were born within 2 months of one another—to ensure everyone is on the same page.
A 10-week session costs $450. Classes begin during the first two weeks of May. Parent groups are Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:30am to 10:45am; grandparent groups, Wednesdays 10:30-11:45am; and nanny groups, Mondays 2-3:45pm.
