A Fertility Hotline, Of Sorts

Baby Steps Fertility caters to hopeful parents

There’s an industry name for people trying to conceive: Intended Parents. And we all know lots and lots and lots of them. So we were delighted to discover Baby Steps Fertility, a new(ish) LA-based concierge service whose sole mission is to guide and protect Intended Parents through the frustrating, costly and isolating processes of IVF, egg donor selection, and surrogacy. The 2-year-old company was born out of personal experience after founder Liz Silverman-Platt spent five years and $310,ooo on infertility treatments before choosing a surrogate. (She’s now the proud mother of 2-and-a-half year old twin boys.) “My goal is to save my clients time, money, and emotional distress,” says Silverman-Platt who works with a proven group of trusted infertility doctors, lawyers, acupuncturists, therapists, and donor agencies to create the most effective, supportive environment for her clients. Baby Steps will book your doctor’s appointments (and yes, you get priority treatment), prep the doctors before your visit, and even go with you for emotional support, if you wish. They also pre-screen egg donors and surrogates to ensure viability and to make sure they match your criteria.

Consulations start at $200. One egg donor cycle (from profile to selection) starts at $1,500. The surrogacy process (which usually takes 18 ninths) starts at $5,000.
