Where To Get The Greenest Groceries

Green Grocer opens in East Dallas

You can pretty much stop scrutinizing food labels if you shop at Green Grocer, the new East Dallas market owned by husband-wife team Gary Stephens and Cassie Green. They do the vetting for you: there’s a strict preservative-free rule, most items are organic, and about 30 percent of the products hail from local and statewide sources. In addition to loads of fresh produce (hello, homemade baby food), we love the toddler-friendly options like Rising Moon Organics’ grilled veggie pizza, Envirokidz’s peanut butter puff cereal, Three Happy Cows’ individual yogurt drinks, and Carnival Barker’s organic ice cream, which is churned in a Deep Ellum kitchen. Top it all off with tons of parking, a full deli dishing 95 percent organic goodies, and grass-fed beef and pork hot dogs by chef Brian Luscher of neighboring restaurant the Grape. Yum.
