When You Need A Fix

Two new places to indulge a sweet tooth

From pregnancy cravings to good behavior bribes, sweets play a much bigger role in our lives once kids are in the picture. That’s why we sit up and take notice when places like My Cupcake Garden and Nate’s Gelato & Desserts open. The first is a new food truck serving gourmet cupcakes, many of which—carrot, apple-zucchini, strawberry-banana, sweet potato—are packed with fruits and veggies. But good luck luring the kids away from the vanilla-with-rainbow-sprinkles version. You’ll also find some healthy (ish) treats (smoothies, for one) at Nate’s, in downtown Plano. Though, we’ve gotta say the shop’s more sinful pastries, cakes, and homemade gelato (in flavors like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and Salted Caramel) are worth every calorie.
