There’s Always Room For Cake

Sugar Ray’s Bake Shop to open first store

sugarray600

Chances are you’ve had a taste of Sugar Ray’s Bake Shop’s custom cupcakes at a birthday party or two. But this fall, you won’t have to wait for the next celebration to indulge. Former special events assistant-turned-baker Rachel Barbaro plans to open her first storefront in mid-October. Though there’s a menu of over 30 flavors, expect around six different varieties to be available daily—old-fashioned strawberry, cookies and cream, and chunky monkey (banana cake with walnuts and chocolate chips topped with peanut butter cream frosting) flavors are among the must-tries. Barbaro’s signature milk chocolate hazelnut cupcake with hot chocolate frosting (OMG) will also be up for grabs every day. All cupcakes are crowned with hand-made melted chocolate toppers. Standard cupcakes will start at $3 each or $33 per dozen; add $7 per dozen for custom cupcakes. Cakes start at $35 and custom cakes are priced upon request.
