Halloween Happenings

5 worthy events for little ones

A lot of effort goes into a toddler’s costume. Might as well milk the thing until the threads come loose.

Trick or Treat @ The Market (10/27, 11am-2pm), gives little ones a chance to snag free candy from the produce aisles of the Dallas Farmer’s Market. Frisco’s Pumpkins on the Prairie (daily, through 10/31) rounds out the usual pumpkin patch offerings with a bouncy house, hay maze, and movies under the stars. The Dallas Arboretum packs its Pecan Grove with Halloween festivities throughout October; on 10/27-28 there will be trick or treating in the gardens of the Small Houses of Great Artists, from noon to 4pm. Little monster lovers can drop in for Simply Spooktacular (10/26, 10-11:30am) at the Museum of Nature & Science to make a monster craft and participate in an interactive reading of Go Away Big Green Monster. Bookmarks’ Creepy Crawloween (10/24, 10:30am)  is similar, offering critter-inspired crafts and story time. And the Forth Worth Zoo is decking the exhibits with candy, pumpkins, larger-than-life spider webs and scavenger hunts during Boo at the Zoo (10/19-21 and 10/26-28, 12-5pm).
