Don't Raise A City Slicker

Take the tots on a guided nature walk

City kids need a dose of outdoor education every once in a while. And now's a good time to squeeze it in. In May, Babes in the Woods will be hosting 45-minute nature walks at the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve, where children can learn about tiny organisms and how to use magnified lenses and microscopes. They'll also do nature-related crafts, sit for story time, and feed cardinals, wild turkeys, and mourning doves.

The walks are geared toward tots 18 months to 3 years of age and are held at 9:15am on Mondays and Tuesdays. It’s $9 per child/caregiver pair, per class, and each session is capped at 10 kids. Register at least 72 hours in advance, or call 817.491.6333 to see if there are any last minute spots. Plan to bring a refillable water bottle and wear closed-toed shoes.
