Art Appreciation For Beginners

The DMA caters to little ones

Art museums and toddlers can be an odd combo. But the Dallas Museum of Art is trying to make it work. Their new Art to Go family totes are packed with activities to guide children as young as 3 through the space and help them better understand the artwork. Inside, you'll find games, creative materials, and interactive suggestions like using the imagination to find certain smells in an abstract expressionist painting or clapping, stomping, and singing a soundscape for a Buddhist sculpture.
Totes must be checked out and returned at the main entrance during museum hours. The museum changes out activities so families can have a new experience with each visit. DMA Admission is free; special exhibits are $8 for adults, free for children under 11.
