The Need For Speed

After a two-year hiatus, the Zoom Room is making a bigger and better return to the Chicago Children’s Museum (700 E. Grand Ave., Navy Pier). The Crown Gallery has been outfitted with over 2,000 small toy cars and three main wooden track stations: Fast Track, set up for long runs and race jumps; Test Site for friction, target, and timing trials; and Crash Course, where they can explore speed and crashes with different track alignments and shapes. There are cubbies, plus plenty of floor space for tots to let toy cars loose. Zoom Room runs through December and is included with regular museum admission ($14 for adults and kids; free for babies under 1).
