Your Music Is Better Than Theirs
Hooray for family concerts with decent tunes
Newsflash: toddlers will dance to just about anything—including cool indie rock music. That’s the idea behind Rock-N-Romp, a concert series for families, where the music doesn't suck. Local parents Kerry and Carl Lavin opened a Boston edition of the national program at Harvard Square rock club the Sinclair; their daytime toddler-friendly concerts feature local indie acts like OldJack and the Ballroom Thieves. During the two-hour performances, bands play adult tunes that tots can groove to, with tons of floor space for dancing. My Gym Boston provides hula-hoops and other romping accessories and vendors like Happy Family Brands supply the snacks. Concerts are held every few weeks on Saturdays and Sundays (follow Rock-N-Romp Boston on Facebook for dates and times). Adults are $10 and kids are $5. Tickets can be purchased on The Sinclair’s website.
