The best local picks for beach babies

We’re counting the minutes until beach weather arrives in earnest. Until it does, we can shop for it. Here are some summery suggestions for little ones, from the best baby shops in town. Tiny Hanger (14 Pleasant St., Brookline) stocks New Zealand’s ultra-protectant Snapper Rock swimwear and sun suits, which block up to 98 percent of the sun’s rays ($39 and up for boys, $42 and up for girls). The Red Wagon (69 Charles St.) carries Charlie Rocket’s preppy lobster swim short combo for boys ($29) and Le Top’s sweet pink-and-white gingham one-piece ($38) for girls. The team at Tadpole (58 Clarendon St.) says SnapMe swimwear makes waterfront diaper-changing a legitimate snap; their line of onesie-style tank suits($19.99 and up) is new to the store. For boys, check out their Nano line ($28 and up) with playful prints like lobsters, fish, and frogs. At Magic Beans (312 Harvard St. Brookline), there's an adorable striped nautical hat (pictured, $17.99) from San Diego Hat Co. in navy or red. Lester Harry’s (115 Newbury St.) frilly swimsuit from Lili Gaufrette ($48) is dreamy for little girls. For something a smidge less ruffled, visit Baby Koo (188 Needham St., Newton) for Quebec company Deux Par Deux’s Mini suit ($34) with hearts and bows—it’s a little flouncy, but machine washable. Need something for après-beach? If you’re on the Cape, pop into the Chatham Children’s Shop (515 Main St., Chatham) and grab Hatley's nautical playtime lobster romper ($29). So flipping cute.
