The FDA has (finally) issued a proposed rule that will require makers of antibacterial soaps and body washes to prove that their products are safe for long-term use. The active ingredients (triclosan and triclocarban) have been linked to health risks such as hormone disruption. BTW, those ingredients are in a lot of hand sanitizers, too, which aren't covered by this rule.
