Scientists and chefs sound off on gluten, nuts, and more

Childhood food allergies are becoming more and more prevalent, and no one is sure exactly why. Which is frustrating (and scary) for moms of allergy-prone kids. On Friday, April 19th, allergy experts from Mass General and Harvard Medical School will explain the science and offer coping tips at Gluten, Dairy, and Nuts, Oh My! Why Are Food Allergies on the Rise?. Then comes the fun part: a tasting reception with chefs (including James Beard winner Jody Adams and current Beard nominee Joanne Chang), who will chat about how to shop for and cook allergen-free foods. The lecture begins at 6pm; the tasting goes until 9pm; tickets are $15.
