Game Day Made Easy

Local parks broadcast Red Sox games

It's kind of depressing to watch a Sox game at home on a gorgeous day. And bringing the baby to a bar isn't exactly cool, either. But we do like the idea of Out of the Park, a new program co-hosted by the Red Sox, the Highland Street Foundation, and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department that broadcasts Sox games on giant projector screens in parks around the city. To make the experience as Fenway-ish as possible, the events will feature a live announcer, Fenway Franks, and an appearance from Sox mascot, Wally the Green Monster. Face painters, balloon artists, and caricaturists will keep little ones entertained during the seventh inning stretch; families are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics.

Catch the first Out of the Park event on May 25 at 1:40pm at Ramsay Park (Washington St. at Melnea Cass Blvd., Roxbury); more free games are planned all over the city, throughout the summer. Check the High Street site for updates.
