Spring Trend Report: 2018
Trendy looks for babies and toddlers
While Mother Nature prepares to dump another round of snow on much of the northeast tomorrow (as if last week weren’t enough, right?), fashion continues to forge ahead to spring… and we’re joining them. From oversized ice cream cones to lifelike reptiles, this spring fashion is all about fun and feeling good. To get all the details of what you’ll be seeing on the playground circuit this spring, we tapped ST Fashion Expert and co-creator of Ice Cream Castles Veronique Barnes to give us the inside scoop. Here’s a rundown of everything we’re looking forward to seeing as the days get longer and the temps creep up:
Prints seem to have an edge over patterns this season, but with two major updates. Prints are coming in oversized to give designs a fun, bold look. And while the usual suspects (we’re looking you, unicorns and dinos) will get their fair share this season, there’s a new trend in town: fruits. Yes, as in the apple and banana variety. "There are pineapples and bananas everywhere,” says Veronique. “I love our banana fruit print from Ice Cream Castles for both boy and girl babies—its a great gender neutral print, and super fun and on trend with the spring vibes.”
Classics will see a similar update, with pastels paired with oversized stripes, gingham, and florals. On the boys’ side, Veronique says to expect to plenty of vintage inspired tees, touches of mustard yellow, and plaid shorts.
They’ll forever be something alluring about a cooing baby in a slogan tee, and fashion has decided babies can say something a little funnier than “future ladies man” and a little more important than “daddy’s girl.” Mini Rodini’s earth-loving pullover is an ultimate statement piece— not to mention, a practical staple in springs less-than-predictable weather. “[In the spring], I am never without light weight sweatshirts,” says Veronique. “You can easily throw it on in case if gets cold suddenly, and still have a super cute outfit.”
Have some fun and break free of your brand-rut this season with some Veronique-approved finds: “I am a huge fan of Le Future," Veronique says. “Their brand is super on trend with the streetwear vibe people are loving now a days.” She adds: “I adore Little Moon Society. It’s made with the softest fabric, and they have adorable tie dye pieces.” And because the jean jacket will forever be a transitional wardrobe staple, she adds, “the custom, one-of-a-kind jean jackets for kiddos by Hey Babe LA are the absolute cutest!”
Happy shopping, friends!
