Spring Fashion Report: 2013
Trendy looks for babies and toddlers
No matter what’s happening outside in the real world, warmer weather has arrived in retail land. To get our babies’ wardrobes up to speed, we’ve asked Lisa Wong, Thumbeline‘s LA-based co-founder and buyer, for a quick tutorial on spring’s freshest trends.
“Black is the new black for spring,” Wong says. “It’s so crisp and modern (not to mention stain resistant!) when paired with a clean graphic print, a pop of color, or a stripe pattern.” She likes Munster Kids’ stalking baby short ($54) and Bangbang Copenhagen’s ballerina swimsuit ($48). We think the way Stella McCartney’s Hepsie floral dress (pre-order for $89) combines black with a Hawaiian print is pretty cool, too. Neon is still big this spring (don’t shoot the messenger). “We’re enjoying the arrival of new and surprisingly wearable saturated electro-tones,” Wong explains, “especially yellow and chartreuse.” Check out the cheery organic striped leggings from Bobo Choses ($52), and Tea Collection’s highlighter-colored happy hoodie ($30) and King Protea mini dress ($29). For a hit of neon on the feet, we can’t resist Vans’ classic slip-ons ($30). Wong says fruit prints are big, especially in the fun, bold, graphic forms seen on this organic orange tank top ($45) and organic pear body suit ($49.50) by Bobo Choses. We also like Mini Boden’s sweet cherry appliqué tee ($24). J.Crew’s kids’ Teach for America tee ($25) is of-the-moment with its big apple print, plus all profits go to a good cause.
