Trendspotting for Spring 2011

The spring collections are quickly filling shelves, and we’re thinking, Hallelujah. (Is it just us, or was that the longest winter ever?) To focus our wandering eye a bit, we asked the founders of Tada! Shop to share their top five trends for children’s wear this spring—and a few of their favorite examples.

The hot color combo this spring is periwinkle-and-red. Check out Kayce Hughes’ smocked day dress, this adorable bubble from Busy Bees, and this surfer-boy tie from johnnie-O.

The whole skull-and-crossbones thing has evolved into a pirate trendlet, with ship graphics being featured at cool labels like Appaman and Winter Water Factory, and this adorable “Shiver Me Timbers” tee from Crewcuts.

Neon. Love it or hate it, you’re going to be seeing a lot of it this spring. It’s popping up everywhere, from Gap jeggings to Crewcuts chinos.

The anchor seems to be the “it” graphic of the season. We’ve spotted it on everything from Lucky Fish and atsuyo et akiko   tees, to rompers and skirts.

Espadrilles are making a comeback. We’re not convinced they’re the best for developing feet, but the ones from Tea Collection, Mini Boden and Morgan & Milo sure are cute.
