Five of the Best Beaches for Baby
A guide to the best beaches for baby in the Hamptons
With less than a month until the official start of the Hamptons summer season, we are already dreaming about those long, magical beach days. Planning on hitting the beach with a baby in tow? Check out these places:
Coopers Beach, Southampton. With a full concession stand, chair and umbrella rentals, and plenty of bathrooms, this expansive beach is perfect for an expansive day. Parking is free for Village residents with a village parking sticker, $40 a day for everyone else.
Scott Cameron, Bridgehampton. The Locals call it “The Cut,” and it's the place to find a spot where the Atlantic almost touches the bay. Toddlers love to shriek as the ocean waves touch their toes, and wade into the calm waters of Mecox Bay. Parking is free for Southampton Town residents with a sticker, no day passes.
Long Beach, Sag Harbor. Technically called Foster Memorial Beach, “Long Beach” is a mile-long bay beach. Come for sunset and have a glass of wine while the baby naps, or the toddler hunts for the perfect sea-polished rock. Parking is free for Southampton Town residents with a sticker, $25 a day for everyone else.
Main Beach, East Hampton. The heart of the East Hampton beach scene, Main Beach is great for celebrity spotting … if you can get a parking spot. 2017 non-resident passes are already sold out and a limited number of day passes are available, so go early or late.
Looking for a hidden treasure? Pull into the Sag Harbor Golf course off of 114, turn right past the tiny cottage that serves as the clubhouse, and head two miles down a deeply rutted dirt road until you reach Barcelona Neck. We promise, it’s worth the trek. Parking is very limited.
