With Memorial Day behind us, summer is [unofficially] in full swing. (Woot! Woot!) But before you stock up on sunblock and sand toys, check out these indispensable bits of advice from our talented panel of experts.

Zem Joaquin and her posse of green gurus at Ecofabulous rounded up the best summer essentials for babies and toddlers. And by “best” we of course mean eco-friendly and cool.

Zoë B biodegradable beach toys ($21.99 at zoeborganic.com) are fun, cute, and gender-neutral. And did we mention biodegradable?

The recycled polyester board shorts from Billabong ($52 at montkid.com) look just as cool as their usual surf stuff. No, really.

Hessnatur’s Organic Cotton Visor Hat ($20 at hessnatur.com) has a wonderfully wide brim, plus a neck flap to protect that precious sweet spot in the back.

Reusable swim diapers are catching on (big time), and ImseVimse’s ruffled ones ($15.95 at imsevimse.com) are cuter than most.

Pedoodles’s sweet first-walker sandals for http://www.pedoodles.com/product.php/82/11/" target="_blank">boys and girls are made with veggie-tanned leather and recycled soles.

The organic cotton terry cover-ups from Trendy Tot ($40 on etsy.com) have a chic, cape-style cut and cooler graphics than the usual critter-happy hooded towels.

The Travel Bag by Apple and Bee ($36.95 at appleandbeeusa.com) is kind of like a mini beach tote for tots—great for stashing a shovel, pail, and snack.
