With Memorial Day behind us, summer is [unofficially] in full swing. (Woo-hoo!) But before you stock up on sunblock and sand toys, check out these indispensable bits of advice from our talented panel of experts.

Party pro Amy Atlas knows a thing or two about outdoor entertaining. Here are her suggestions for hosting a fabulous summer barbecue.

1. I love putting peach iced tea in an apothecary-style jug. Throw in some sliced fresh peaches and you’re good to go.

2. Get some fantastic outdoor serving pieces, like these melamine dinner plates from Crate&Barrel, and these great “County Fair” mugs from Fish’s Eddy.

3. The round paper lanterns from Luna Bazaar give any night-time barbecue such a romantic feel. Get two or three different sizes. If you want a more classic vibe, keep them all in the same color; for a very festive soiree, mix a few different shades.

4. Serve your guests with a fabulous tray. I love Dabney Lee’s designs; this monogrammed Lucite tray one is perfect.

5. It’s fun to end a great barbecue with a yummy sorbet. Ciao Bella makes a Strawberry Merlot sorbet that is to die for.
